Why, Hindi is hard too!

Monday, May 26, 2008
In school, class 3 or 4, I learnt a poem in English class.
"Why English is so hard".

Then again when I changed schools, went to another state where the syllabus was different, I learnt the same poem in class 5 or 6 (or maybe 7).

I say 3 or 4 , or 5 or 6 (or maybe 7) because I do not remember the year. I just remember it by the schools where I learnt it, and by the teachers who taught it to me.

But Hindi is equally competent in that respect.
If this is correct,
दोपहर के बाद श्याम आई

then , how can this be correct too:
दोपहर के बाद श्याम आया

Darn it ! Lets forget the perplexing matter and go watch the movie.

"सुहानी, श्याम, और एक श्याम सुहानी"

Oh did you say I'll have to make it first?
Then forget it!

Aaj Shaam Hote Hi Chinmai ne bola 'Shyam' nahi 'Shaam' Hota hai.
Tab pata chala ki Shaam Hoti Hai. Aur Shyam Hota Hai.
CHINmai is right.
Galat thi meri Hindi! Yeh post tow nikli CHINdi!
A totally unintentional shyam. Errm...I mean sham.

  1. we arent taught hindi in school as we are Pakis.. we are taught urdu which is almost the same like hindi in speaking but COMPLETELY different in writing..and when i was small we had indian hyderabadi(pakistan has a hydrabad as well) neighbours and i was fascinated by written hindi..it looks really artistic... so i asked my aunty to teach me hindi.. she just wrote all the angrezi alphabets and un k saath un k hindi alphabets.. so now if i concentrate hard enough i can read hindi....so i m going to translate and u are going to tell me if its correct or not
    1.dopeher k baad shaam aayi(we are talking abt the evening here hiana)

    It seems the mother hired a guy living in the floor below her in the building to babysit her baby.

    aayi=mother (in marathi)
    aaya=nanny

    (hehe I think my sentence sounds the most wierd) ;)
