Born on wrong planet

That life form felt as miserable as Ayn Rand in the world of illiterates.
Maybe being Chetan Bhagat would have been easier.

    @NITIN
Kuchh nahin yaar. I am the Ayn Rand in this Indian IT industry of pathetic 'business applications' suitable for programming illiterates. I can do fundoo programming (as I did in college), for which I see no scope here.

Might have been more fit for it if I had been a Chetan Bhagat. (Less than mediocre writer (programmer), but popular among masses (managers) who need exacly that -mediocre writers (programmers) whom they can actually understand (dumb) and hence 'appreciate'.

And no, I do not have anything against Bhagatji. Just I don't think much of him as a writer.

Had read 5 pt someone. (Ex-Roommate's). Found it quite boring.

    It had
    1) No hi-fundoo language that kinda opens your mind.
    2) No hi-fundoo ideas, philosophies or message
    3) No suspense-what will happen next??? who dunnit??
    4) No twists to keep you seated
    5) No real romance or erotica
    6) No sci-fi or other fantasy

    NOTHING!
Felt like reading a middle-school text book.

And I have not read his other 2 books.
Plus most ppl who read all three , and actually ->like<- C.B. books tell me 1st one was best. So I don't even want to imagine how those other 2 must be.

But I guess masses can grasp and appreciate only chetan kinda writing. So it works for everybody. They feel ooh wow I am reading a 'novel'! Its such an in thing! I am a literature-head now! Wyeaaaaooow! While C.B and publishers go happy to the bank as so many ppl can understand, appreciate and hence buy his books.

  4. You got the point as well as did not.

//thats why bhatt group releases more movies ( fantasy, romance, erotica,suspense..)

you mean to say fantasy, romance, erotica, suspense is what makes a bhatt movie crappy?

Nope. Even great movies have the same basic elements, just these elements are given wonderful treatment. That makes the movie grat.

And coming to think of my original comment'

in view of yours, now I understand why I enjoy a Bhatt movie more than that pointless no-one.

    Bhat, BhaGat.

  5. What am I reading!

Anyway, I've not told you a single thing that'd remotely come close to an advice. But here, I take the risk of not giving you an advice, but sharing something with you that I'd concluded sometime during my MBBS.

At least, as long as being in India, never make what you're most passionate about as your source of livelihood!

Maybe, a year back you'd have found this idea very weird and counter-intuitive. Don't know how you view it today.

This is why I told you, I'll never try to be Howard Roark.

You know, the subjects I'd liked best in MBBS were immunology and psychiatry. And I never (after my conclusion) considered them my career choices!

There was one psychiatrist-teacher who had come to respect a lot. He was, no doubt, very intelligent and talented in his profession (somewhat indicating how much passionately he loved his subject). When he'd to start his practice, he told me had joined a laughter club in his new town. I asked him why (he was 29 then). And he said, 'for networking'!

I think you must've got the point by now.

When we have to do things we're most passionate about with an eye on earning money, it becomes tedious, and seems like something imposed upon us. You might enjoy writing this blog or reading FH, but if you'd be told to attract this many bloggers and comments anyhow, or to answer trivia-based grilling questions from FH without understanding its essence and reading it within a deadline, you'll find both the things disgusting.

I understand, your problem is somewhat different. Your potential is being underutilized. But that's how it's going to stay!

It's best to relegate what we are most passionate about to the status of hobby! That way you'll always have something to look up to in 'life', as it will allow you time for your hobby on your own terms.

Not sure, how you can apply practically what I'm trying to suggest. Maybe, you can start writing programs just as a hobby (excuse me, I've no idea what resources are required beyond a pc to 'write programs'), and hope someday they'll find market. Even if they don't find a market, you might get a kick out of simply running your programs.

In my opinion, there's one hard fact you've accept, your office work is going to stay the way it is.

BTW, have you been put into 'management' job from 'programing' job? Asking in context of LMAO. Oops! Typo.

    TC.
