Hanu in Sanskrit means chin. When He jumped to catch the Sun thinking it was a ripe orange, He fell and his chin got badly injured. That's when He realized the truth (the ultimate? I'm not sure) but that's why He's named so.
As far as I know he wasn't a trael agent. Although he is known to have been involved in carrying some passengers and sometimes goods (load weight limit: 1 Mountain with sanjeevani herb on it) as a means of transport himself.
